Hard Numbers uses a series of vignettes to address surveillance, violence, and consumer culture. Performed opposite a trained German Shepherd, Reese, and her trainer Eric, Reese  represents a surveillant, an aggressor, a subjugated being, a guardian, and just a  dog in one performance. The multiplicity of interpretation also calls into question how the identity of  “black” and “woman” are altered throughout the seriesof interactions.
